Welcome to the Fire Department Obernburg

The Voluntary Fire Department Obernburg was founded in 1869 and consists of approximately 65 active firefighters. By adding the passive, supportive and joung members, more than 120 citizens serve for public in Obernburg.
The Voluntary fire department was established for the purpose of extinguishing civil community assistance, but today the scope of its service has expanded. In addition to fighting fires, the firefighters do valuable work in the framework of technical assistance. They take part in traffic planning after accidents in the same way as for example in a storm or just for traffic safety and traffic control at special events. The main tasks of all German fire departments „rescue, extinguish, protect“ . This phrase can be commonly summarized as the concept of fire protection and it is the duty of every municipality.

The fire department Obernburg has other local tasks different from the „normal“ workload. It can cooperate with the other fire departments institutions in our region because it owns a decontamination vehicle that can carry hazardous materials, an operation vehicle owned by the district, a pole car, a multi-purpose boat and oil treatment equipments.

Besides the districts` population, trade and industry, the location of the town of Obernburg, is in line with the Bundeswasserstraße Main and is at the junction of B426 to B469 plays a great role in increases its tasks. Annually with 110-130 operations, the fire district-wide Obernburg is the leading district.
To ensure constant readiness of equipment and personnel, the blue-collar practice regular exercises, training events and courses. On our website you will find more information about the fire service and practice.

The fire brigade is primarily an urban institution with responsibilities in fire defense. It is also an organization whose members write the great camaraderie and normal daily work.
